Also, a fever can mess up your sleep and impair your memory. However, even though you have a fever, it is still essential to get plenty of sleep. Resting for as much as 10 hours will make your body recover faster.

Drink Water

Staying hydrated when you are sick is important. Experts recommend drinking a glass of water or sports drinks to replace fluids lost through fever. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine is another one that is not great for you when you have a fever. It causes your body to pump out more fluids to maintain carbon dioxide levels in your blood. You’re already feeling like crap, so don’t make it worse by throwing caffeine into the mix. 

Furthermore, if you need some help getting through the day without knocking back a drink, stock up on some decaf tea or some coffees without coffee and do two or three cups during the day.

Eat Healthily

The foods that we eat during this time are crucial to our recovery. It may even make a massive difference for you to eat the right kind of food. Eat soup. Have an easily digestible, protein-rich meal. Great food to have during a fever is chicken noodle soup. It is because chicken is very high in protein, and it is also effortless to digest. The fat in the chicken broth will help you keep hydrated as well, and any spices (or herbs) found in the soup will also help fight off infection.

Certain medications can help ease the symptoms of a fever, such as pain relievers and antidepressants. If you feel more stressed than usual, you may want to consider using any of these kinds of medications. Suppose you are still unable to get through the day without feeling quite uncomfortable. In that case, you may want to consider administering pain relief medication, so you can find some relief for the aches and pains that your body is experiencing. 

Stay Cool

We can do many things during our day to keep us cool when we’re sick and have a high temperature. Stay in an air-conditioned room, or you can also use cold compresses. Also, you can use a fan, and if it is summer, you can open a window to allow the cool air to circulate. To prevent yourself from getting sick again, stay away from foods that are high in dairy. 

Stay Away From Sugar Foods

Sugary foods are not something to eat when dealing with a high temperature that you’re trying to bring down. Foods high in sugar, such as chocolate, contain lots of sugar and sugary drinks. You can also have high in simple carbs (like bread, pasta, and rice), which are not recommended when dealing with a fever. 

Check Your Temperature Often

You can do this by using a thermometer to measure the temperature of your body. As long as you’re checking your temperature, you should know how to take your temperature correctly. You can use either a digital or the old-fashioned mercury thermometer. Make sure that if you are using a digital thermometer, that it be noncontact and has an ear or forehead attachment, so you can take the temperature in one quick second.

Do Not Be Afraid To Take Antibiotics.

Antibiotics can be very dangerous if they are not appropriately prescribed, so make sure you take them the right way. Never put anything into your mouth without it being prescribed by a doctor or nurse first because they can seriously harm you if given improperly, such as antibiotics or any other medication that isn’t recommended for children or anyone under certain ages.

Do Not Abuse Over-the-Counter Medicine

Under no circumstances should you take more medication than recommended. Always read the directions before taking anything because they can be harmful if mishandled, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol). It is highly recommended that you do not abuse over-the-counter medicine.
